After more than two weeks of nonstop basketball games, the FIBA World Cup 2023 in Manila finally came to a conclusion last September 10. Fans in the Philippines were excited as their country hosted the world’s best basketball teams competing for the top spot.
Some interesting things happened during the tournament, such as the first game between Gilas Pilipinas and the Dominican Republic on August 25, 2023, at the Philippine Arena setting a record for most people attending a FIBA World Cup game with 38,115 fans in the audience.
Fans were also able to meet the first-ever Filipino Digital Human, “Pearl.” This was a cool project involving Smart-PLDT, NTT Data, and MediaQuest.
Moreover, International Basketball Federation Secretary General Andreas Zagklis praised the MVP Group of Companies for their teamwork and the success of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. He said it lived up to expectations in terms of excitement, fan engagement, social media buzz, and overall experience.
